Well, this is more than a blog, but I include it here because within the site you'll find blogging. DP Review is the most comprehensive review of photo-based hardware, software, cameras, and lenses in the business. If you're in the market for anything, DP Review should be your first stop in researching the options.

  • Conscientious

There is no shortage of photo blogs on the Internet. There aren't many, however, that provide a compelling discourse on fine-arts photography. Jörg Colberg's blog does. It affords us an intelligent and dedicated dialog on serious photography. Highly recommended.

  • Jeff Curto's Camera Position

I admire people who stick to it and work at their craft. Jeff has several terrific podcasts, one on the aesthetics of photography called, Camera Position, and another on the history of photography. He's consistent, prolific, earnest, and knowledgeable. I can listen to him most any time and learn something new.

  • Mark Tucker

I just started reading Mark Tucker's blog on photography and enjoy it very much. His photography is unforced and natural. It's a pleasure to see good, uncontrived work being made.

My good friends, Lauren Sharpton and Lisa Rasmussen run a lively and provocative dialog on art. Always thoughtful and filled with ideas. Highly recommended.

  • I Love Typography

I've been a type nut ever since I studied printing in graduate school. Back then hot lead was still in use, albeit in its last gasp. This web site shares my passion for type. I learn something new everytime I visit it. Highly recommended.

Tech Blogs
  • John Nack's Blog

In my heart dwells a secret little geek, hungry for everything new that companies like Adobe are brewing up in their secret labs. John Nack, Photoshop product manager, has the best blog in the business. A must read every morning with a fresh pot of French press.

  • dekeOnline

Deke McLelland is The Man when it comes to Photoshop and Illustrator training and expertise. I attribute much of my own digital-imaging acumen to him and I simply must give him credit for teaching me so much. His web site has become a lively place for all things Deke. And you much watch dekePod!

Museums
  • George Eastman House

The preeminent museum of photography in the world, located in George Eastman's mansion on East Avenue in Rochester, NY. Worth a special trip by anyone passionate about photography.

  • San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

My favorite museum close to home and one of the first museums to recognize photography as a legitimate art form.

  • Museum of Modern Art

The museum that first lit the fire in my soul for art. I still remember, as a clumsy high-school kid, my first sight of Starry Night, Guernica, The Scream, and Pollock's #1. A breathtaking collection.

  • Legion of Honor

Hands down, my favorite place to spend a foggy, summer day in San Francisco. I always think of Dobie Gillis when I greet The Thinker on my way into the museum.

  • Peggy Guggenheim Collection

There is no museum in the world in a more spectacular setting. On the Grand Canal in Venice, one can feel the eccentric spirit of Peggy as one roams her Venetian Palazzo. And all her dogs are interned in the backyard, near Calder's Sabot.

The place that changed everything for me and where I earned my M.F.A.. JFKU is place where miracles happen and artists blossom in a holistic environment that raises consciousness and expressive possibilities.

  • Rochester Institute of Technology, College of Imaging Arts & Sciences

Rochester is still, arguably, the world center for imaging. While Kodak's days seem a bit tarnished and dusty, Rochester still also has Xerox, Bausch & Lomb, the George Eastman House, and RIT. RIT boasts the world's most comprehensive curricula and degree programs in imaging arts and sciences. And it's my alma mater, where I earned my B.S. in Professional Photography and where I studied for my M.S in Printing Technology.

  • Lynda.com

Lynda.com is the finest source for online learning there is. Specializing in education and training for creative professionals, you will learn more about digital imaging, web site development, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, and many, many more applications and fields of interest. I so admire Lynda Weinman and her company. They provide passion, integrity, and excellence. And they're successful. I don't get anything to promote Lynda.com but believe strongly in their services.
